Within the compact area covered by this guide (140km east-west, 65km north-south) are two outstanding national parks in southernmost Poland: Pieniny and Tatra, and the best of neighbouring Slovakia's mountains in four national parks: Tatra, Slovensky Raj (Slovak Paradise), Low Tatra and Mala Fatra. There can be few places where walkers are better catered for: skilfully constructed paths make walking in very rough terrain comparatively easy; signposting and waymarking are almost universally excellent. Hillwalkers will be in their element here, but there are often shorter, easy suggestions for the less hardy or they can create their own walks from the detailed maps in the book (which show all waymarked routes). In addition, the car tours lead to dozens of short walks and picnic spots, so that even those with little walking experience can make the most of these wonderful mountains. In each of the six national parks you can look forward to sampling local drinks and dishes at one or more of the mountain inns. The guide describes 7 car tours (with accompanying touring maps) and 50 long and short walks (illustrated with 1:50,000 topo maps) covering the Tatras in both countries. There are also 20 separate short walks/picnic suggestions for motorists. Plans are included for Zakopane, Kroscienko, Tatranska Lomnica, Stary Smokovec, Strbske Pleso. Free online update service with specific route change information on the publisher's website, maintained daily. The 'Landscapes' series, with 50 destinations, has been dubbed 'the blue Bibles' by the Sunday Times and led to Sunflower being one of only four publishers (from a field of 18) chosen as a Which? Recommended Provider of Guidebooks. REVIEWS: The Sunflower series always delivers a useful pocket guide book. The car tours, the fold-out maps and the clear symbols all make these books handy to throw in the backpack. The route descriptions are easy to follow and ensure you don't miss any highlights. These books are good value for money --(K, Amazon) Really pleased with the descriptions of the walks in the Polish Tatras

This book is the only English-language guide to cover in depth the hiking opportunities in the spectacular High Tatras mountain range, as well as the neighbouring but contrasting White and Western Tatras ranges. The beautiful and dramatic craggy peaks of the High Tatras mountains straddle the border between Poland and Slovakia, and both sides offer totally different experiences. On the Slovak side you can hike from several villages along the foot of the range. In Poland there is just one main base, the lovely small town of Zakopane, which has retained its traditional atmosphere despite the turmoil of the Communist era. The guide includes full background information on the area's history, wildlife and languages as well as detailed planning information on border control, accommodation and equipment. It is an ideal companion for anyone visiting the unforgettable High Tatras.

Pupil Book Study is a window into the ‘lived experience’ of pupils, as opposed to just the observed experience. It is also a mirror in which to reflect professional practice and identify what helps learning, and what hinders it by outlining clear and coherent structures in which to talk with pupils and look at their books.
Pupil Book Study gives headteachers, senior and middle leaders a systematic toolkit to evaluate the impact of the curriculum through studying teaching and learning. Infused with cognitive science research and evidence-informed practice, it offers schools the architecture for excellence; helping remove the risk of making assumptions.
Pupil Book Study is a guide for schools that offers 7 specific and fully exemplified areas to focus quality assurance systems. The keystone between teaching, learning and the curriculum, Pupil Book Study offers schools the tools to explain why things are as they are and presents solutions to the areas that limit or hinder progress.
Schools report that Pupil Book Study has been some of the most powerful and impactful work they have ever undertaken, resulting in positive change. In November 2020, Pupil Book Study was shared with the Deputy Director, Senior HMI and Policy makers at Ofsted.

In discussing theoretical and analytical issues relating to cross-border resource management, this book explores a group of geographical, political, legal, economic and cultural factors that arise when political units (such as sovereign countries, dependent states and other administrative units) seek to maximize their political and economic interests while minimizing the resultant damage (e.g. resource degradation and preservation of the physical environment). The book is organized into three parts. Part one discusses the theoretical issues relating to cross-border development and the cross-border management of natural and environmental resources. Part two provides a variety of alternatives to advancing cross-border development as well as of options for cross-border management of resource exploitation and for cross-border conflict management. In Part three, using the theoretical and methodological frameworks that have been discussed in Parts one and two, respectively, two in-depth case studies on cross-border development and resource management are provided. Examines various types of cross-border areas at both international and sub-national levels throughout the world as well as their geographical, political, economic and cultural influences on the cross-border resource management Uses the latest international and area data, resulting in new findings for cross-border environmental activities Contains numerous case studies throughout the world including in-depth case studies of cross-border resource management

The Earth is the only planet in our solar system that supports life. The complex process of evolution occurred on Earth only because of some unique environmental conditions that were present: water, an oxygen-rich atmosphere, and a suitable surface temperature. Climate change refers to a statistically significant variation in either the mean state of the climate or in its variability, persisting for an extended period (typically decades or longer). Thus, it requires field of attention towards reduction in the rise in atmospheric temperature, by controlling emitted greenhouse gases into the atmosphere in order to preserve natural resources and by introducing new technologies on alternative fuels. This book presents the fundamental effect on the origin of climate change, impacts over ice cap, melting of Arctic ice, rise in sea level and related technologies that can be implemented to cultivate our land for agriculture, growing forestation to reduce the impact of temperature rise and disaster on human being as well as on other livelihood. This also need to strive for novel policies that world leader should adopt.
