Lifelong horsewoman Jackie Budd shows us how to see life through a horse's eyes and how to use his natural instincts to advantage rather than as sources of conflict. For those who ride primarily for pleasure, Budd gives invaluable advice on how to handle and care for a horse and ride with sensitivity in order to foster a rewarding relationship built on mutual trust. She pays special attention to the training of the young horse, which is fundamental to success in any equestrian sport. The author supplements her own extensive knowledge of horses with remarkable insights from some of the most famous people on the international circuit today. READING THE HORSE'S MIND will put into perspective the reasons for so many equine traits and behaviors and enable all horse lovers to enjoy an even stronger connection with their horses.

In this memoir, Frankie reminisces about horses and horsemen he has known and discusses his innovative, unconventional approach to horsemanship. Founded on intelligence, compassion, experience, and a profound practical understanding of a horse's mind, his methods derive also from the cowboy tradition in which he was schooled and can be read as western folklore.

“Far more than a book about how to care for a horse, though it stands out as one of the best on the subject . . . beautiful” (Susan Richards, author of Chosen by a Horse). This unique guide to horsemanship incorporates Eastern philosophy to describe how horses understand and respond to the flow of vital energy around them, and how they use this energy, called chi, to communicate with their herd, express dominance, and sense predators. Written by the award-winning author of The Scalpel and the Soul, and including forewords by Monty Roberts and Dr. Robert Miller, Zen Mind, Zen Horse shares safe, simple techniques to make you more receptive to your animal’s chi, so you can develop a calm and effective training style that will not only help your horse follow commands, but strengthen the spiritual bond between horse and rider.

Do horses make choices? How do they seem to know what people are thinking and feeling? Are horses spiritual beings with a destiny all their own? If so, how is this destiny connected with humanity's future? How does the equine mind compare with the human mind? What do horses have to teach people? And why are women so attracted to horses? These are some of the questions writer and equine therapist Linda Kohanov explores in her extraordinary book The Tao of Equus. In it she intertwines the story of the spiritual awakening she experienced with her black mare Rasa with compelling neurological research, cultural history, mythology, and first-hand anecdotes from years of teaching and facilitating equine therapy. She delves into the mental and spiritual processes behind the magical connections people, and women in particular, often experience with horses. She skillfully describes the subtle behavioral nuances horses express and perceive — what she calls the "wisdom of the prey" — as well as a feminine wisdom found in her powerful interactions with horses, bringing to the page subtleties that women riders have intuited for centuries. Blending her extraordinary experience — what some would consider paranormal — with a wide-ranging survey of the phenomena of horse-human communication, Kohanov delivers a ground-breaking work sure to interest both longtime riders and readers interested in the leading edge of animal perception and animal-human communication.

Toni Trimble was born in St. Louis, Missouri in 1945. She moved to Chicago, Illinois in 1951 where she began her education. In the fall of 1962 her family moved once again to Dallas, Texas. Toni met and married her husband in 1970, and began a journey of ranching, horses and real estate management. Toni was born a clairvoyant but because of social pressure she kept it a secret. After the death of her husband she continued the real estate management and horses. In the last thirty years her riding experiences included dressage, jumping, endurance, and most recently cutting horses. The horses have been her passion but horse people usually have companion animals as well that Toni reads. Toni's public career began at a seminar when a friend she was reading a horse for asked her to help her son recover his pick up truck that was stolen in Arizona. This thrust her into a new career she had not planned on. Since that day ten years ago Toni has traveled the United States and Australia reading horses and teaching others how to get in touch with their own abilities. Toni conducts all of her readings by phone and only does in person reading when she is teaching. Toni has published two other books Fair Game and Petscopes. She continues to ride, breed and compete with her cutting horses. She also spends time with her son and his family to keep her feet on the ground. Toni and her angels share with you her unique method for reading your own horses and other animals. Toni teaches you to access your higher power and the universal knowledge available to everyone. Using the time tested practice of meditation and understanding energy fields. You will learn to quiet the mind and open the door to that knowledge about your animals. It is similar to riding a bicycle, once someone shows you how you get better each time you ride. That is the journey you will embark on. Toni shares some of her memorable stories and case studies to help encourage and guide you. This book is meant to awaken the natural gifts you already have within. You will begin to feel comfortable calling upon the angels to heighten your God given abilities and receptivity. Energy fields are the foundation of Toni's work. It will shift your emotional and physical frequencies in ways you never thought possible. Enjoy your journey!
