Imagine escaping from a toxic parental family situation into the arms of a cultish church that idolizes marriage and family (at least on paper), expecting many children to follow. Obediently, you marry, only to find that your husbands life is dominated by the overwhelming demands of the church, leaving you with the lions share of raising your five children. You find the situation unendurable and feel trapped. In this frank and revealing narrative, the author graphically portrays the despair of that position and the gradual release when first rejecting Mormonism, then receiving confirmation that her husband has Asperger syndrome, and finally finding freedom together within an orthodox Christian faith.

Can you imagine the throngs of people crowded around Jesus every time he wrought a miracle? Now think of that same crowd surrounding Him as He was walking through the streets of Jerusalem with a cross on His back. The woman with the issue of blood was in the crowd seeking a miracle, all her hope now was centered on touching the hem of His garment. She had overcome the crowd of doubt, worry, fear, anxiety and questions. She pressed through her faith and allowed her faith to become her testimony. The crowd that surrounded Jesus while he was carrying the cross were accusers, persecutors, unbelievers, scorners and many more yet He pushed through. Jesus our pathfinder has cleared the way and has supplied us with the tools of faith and prayer to help us tunnel through our most difficult situations. So remember to PUSH THROUGH THE CROWD!!!!!!!!!!!

I experienced some pretty painful times in my 40 years. Feelings of low self-esteem, uncertainty, and self-doubt took root very early on. I've struggled through every phase of my life: as a chubby child with self-esteem issues, as a teen mom trying to navigate college at an institution I didn't feel a part of, a young woman wasting time with men that reflected the poor image I had of myself, and as an adult grappling with the imbalance of power and privilege in my community and watching it unfold in every aspect of my life. I often found myself walking between two very different worlds. I existed in a space between the past and the present, and poverty and privilege. As I aged, the duality that I existed in grew larger and more complex. Some of those spaces I existed in were quite painful and very emotional for me. Some of the most painful moments of my life were prime opportunities for personal growth. I learned to make sense of the two worlds I existed in and used that skill to help connect, build, and manifest community, comradery, and a sense of purpose.

Christopher Columbus perceived the mountain mass emerging from the morning mist, and sighed. Did he see an ill-fated future for the island he was discovering, and would the Madonna from her Sanctuary in the Montserrat Mountain in Spain, be of any avail? Marguerite and her family go from the Continent to the Caribbean and back again when the forces of Nature league up against them. All in this book is a question of separation and bonding, of parallels and opposites, of the past exerting its influence on the present. When the volcano blows its top, her husband seems to have 'blown his top' too. Her son goes off to sea. Her newlywed daughter goes off with her husband. To whom can Marguerite turn, if not to the Madonna? When disaster strikes, when times are tough, a little bit of fantasy can help one through reality. That is Marguerite's 'Mamma Mia' message to all. All in this book 'push through the darkness' till the sunny warmth of family life is restored.

Trading on the sterling reputation that enabled him to survive a widely publicized doping confession, American cyclist “Big George” Hincapie—a record seventeen-time Tour de France participant, Olympian, and key witness in the Lance Armstrong doping case—offers an insightful account of his esteemed career and a sports era defined by performance-enhancing drug use. In this highly anticipated cycling memoir, Big George Hincapie provides the most comprehensive account of a dark period in professional cycling, in which doping scandals have decimated the careers of some of the top athletes in the field. The Loyal Lieutenant reveals how Hincapie’s life has been intrinsically tied to the sport he loves, from his earliest days in Queens, where he was influenced by his Colombian father’s love of cycling and the Colombian “cycling warrior” archetype. Hincapie takes us through his amateur years to the Olympics, and chronicles his exhilarating ride as a professional, including finding his true calling as Lance Armstrong’s most prized “domestique”—leading his then best friend to seven straight Tour de France victories. Hincapie speaks openly about his relationship with Armstrong, how he himself began doping, and why he quit long before the headline-making revelations. His personal evolution is the journey of a man dedicated to coming clean about his past and to restore honor to the sport he loves.

They were mostly inexperienced campers, “raising their hands” to take a big risk, exchanging their comfortable lives for a difficult week of mountaineering. Over 135 college students and alumni tell stories and share memories of teamwork and testing, disappointment and triumph. They pushed their limits, believed in themselves, and took time for personal reflection. Sometimes pain -- sore muscles, altitude sickness, and frozen toes -- seemed insurmountable. Exhaustion and discomfort can be dispelled by camaraderie and humility. In their futures, finding solutions to tough problems will require truly exceptional leadership. Whether they are called to lead, asked to lead, or forced to lead, all who dared those summits will be better prepared to meet any challenge they will face.

Tami Knight, Illustrator/Mountaineer This important new book tells the story of Canada's 200-year mountaineering history. Through the use of stories and pictures, Chic Scott documents the evolution of climbing in Canada. He introduces us to the early mountain pioneers and the modern day climbing athletes; he takes us to the crags and the gyms, from the west coast to Québec, and from the Yukon to the Rockies. But most importantly, Scott showcases Canadian climbers-the routes that challenged them, the peaks that inspired them, their insatiable desire to climber harder, to push the limits. Begin the trek through Canada's climbing history Learn about Swiss guides hired by CPR hotels who ushered in the glory years of first ascents. Continue through to the turn of the twentieth century when British and American climbers of leisure found themselves hampered by the difficulties of travel through the Canadian wilderness. Learn about the European immigrants of the 1950s who pushed the limits on the rock walls, and the American superstars who led the search for frightening new routes on the big north faces. Be there when British expatriates pioneer an exciting new trend in world mountaineering-waterfall ice climbing. Witness the popular growth of sport climbing, both on the crags and in the gyms. Finally, enjoy the story of home-grown climbers. Initially slow to take up the challenge, both at home and overseas, they are now leaders in the climbing world.

Every surgeon to know the entire surgical physiology and surgical anatomy in dealing with a particular or multiple surgical problems developed in the same patient. This book has been comprehensively compiled with all aspects of surgical anatomy, surgical physiology, and dealing with all sorts of clinical and operative skills in the field of colorectal surgery. In this book, described the symptoms, clinical examination, investigations and merits of different treatments reported in the literature. Highlighted the recent trend in surgical treatment for the rectal carcinoma. This book will assist the trainee surgeons to understand the difference between the two schools of thought, difference between two surgical approaches and technical benefits between the conventional and new operative procedures for the same surgical pathology. Highlighted the conflicting surgical anatomy between the textbook of clinical surgery and the textbook of anatomy. Focused the consistency between two arguments along with my own views, based upon my own anatomical dissection, clinical and operative experience. Although one can learn a skill and gain a practical experience by working in the field of colorectal surgery, it is not possible for everyone to be fully aware of the recent changes, published in the literature. It has been well established that colonoscopy provides additional diagnostic evidences, but it is not without problems. To improve the clinical management, colonography has been a new diagnostic tool in clinical medicine. Its clinical importance and its pitfalls have been highlighted in this book. Apart from these technologies, many radiological evidences, such as modern role of CT scan, MRI scan and PET scan have been compiled in this book. This would provide immense clinical value in the management of diseases. This book will provide the necessary diet to meet individual quest without searching for further information in other literature. This book would provide valuable facts to the surgical students, in particular to those who intend to practice in colorectal surgery and to those who have been working in this specialty. Since colonoscopic tools are widely available, radiological investigations are less frequently used in the investigation of the colonic diseases. As a result, academic input to the postgraduate students has become a problem in the absence of true radiological features of certain colonic diseases such as ischemic colitis, ulcerative colitis and Crohn’s colitis or familial polyposis coli. I have, therefore, retrieved a few rare radiological images from other literatures for the benefit of the postgraduate students.
