This book is about my life growing up as a Muslim boy and young Islamic scholar in West Africa. In search for answers, I arrived at the truth through objective study of the Bible and the Quran. I began to discover the errors in the Quran. Many Muslims have been misled, which will be demonstrated in this book, and some have become extremists as a result. For those who have the potential to become Islamic extremists and terrorists, and for the Christian reader, this book is my attempt as a former Muslim to create a bridge between the Islamic and Christian world. Without judgment or condemnation, this is my way of reaching out to my Muslim brethren, so that we can at least have a conversation about Jesus Christ and Mohammed.

A nuclear Israel waits for its Messiah, a nuclear America eagerly anticipates the second coming of Christ, and a nuclear Iran believes it can expedite the return of the hidden or twelfth imam. Are apocalyptic expectations, like all other ideologies, simply evolution's way of keeping the human population in check? Is religion true? Does God exist? What happens to us when we die? What should the afterlife mean for us while we are alive? Are these the greatest of all questions, and if so, why? After thousands of years and countless religious traditions, why does the world continue to hunger for spiritual truth? Why are religious lives so often filled with doubt, worry, and dark nights of the soul? Do you believe in pregnant virgins? Do you believe in the incarnation of an immutable God? Do you believe that an eternal God died? Do you believe Jesus redeemed an Israel that has totally rejected him? Do you believe a loving Jesus will return to bring the world to a tragic end? Do you believe that contradictions can't both be true? Do you believe the human anatomy is designed for meditation or mobility? If God had indeed chosen the prophet Muhammad to warn the people, why didn't Muhammad warn Muslims not to split Islam into Sunni and Shiite? It has been said that if we don't challenge our beliefs, our beliefs will eventually challenge us. Disillusionment with religion, not to mention global crises, is forcing believers to question the basis of their faith. Socrates on Judaism, Christianity, and Islam addresses those who are unsatisfied with the belief systems they encountered in orthodox religions. This book will assist searchers as they embark on their solitary quest for spiritual discovery.

"Salafism has emerged as one of the most visible and questioned faces to contemporary Islam. In many countries from the East to the West, this fundamentalist vision seeking to restore a vision of Islam that is supposed to be pure and unchanged is increasingly successful. This is the case in France where thousands of Muslims are now dedicated to living this puritanical and fundamentalist religiosity. In connection with some Islamic countries, starting with Saudi Arabia, they appeal to a transnational narrative through which they promote a new face of globalization today. Reacting both political Islam and Jihadism, they prefer becoming entrepreneurs in order to seek for economic success. Splitting from the rest of the society, they prefer building a counter-narrative on behalf of which they represent the purest form of the Islamic identity nowadays. Through a prolonged immersion in French Salafist communities for several years, this book sheds light on the lifestyle, representations, profiles, and trajectories of these communities. By focusing on quietist Salafism and its formative ties with several Gulf countries, especially with Saudi Arabia, this book is also an attempt to understand contemporary religious globalizations. Besides this political globalization of Salafism, this also sheds light on a dynamic that is less centred on formal political entities, and which primarily refers to a globalization taking place in the margins that have been little studied for too long"--

Why did non-Muslims convert to Islam during Muhammad's life and under his immediate successors? How did Muslim historians portray these conversions? Why did their portrayals differ significantly? To what extent were their portrayals influenced by their time of writing, religious inclinations, and political affiliations? These are the fundamental questions that drive this study. Relying on numerous works, including primary sources from over a hundred classical Muslim historians, Conversion to Islam is the first scholarly study to detect, trace, and analyze conversion themes in early Muslim historiography, emphasizing how classical Muslims remembered conversion, and how they valued and evaluated aspects of it. Ayman S. Ibrahim examines numerous early Muslim sources and wrestles with critical observations regarding the sources' reliability and unearths the hidden link between historical narratives and historians' religious sympathies and political agendas. This study leads readers through a complex body of literature, provides insights regarding historical context, and creates a vivid picture of conversion to Islam as early Muslim historians sought to depict it.

Produced in honor of Charles C. West, who, until his retirement in 1992, was the Stephen Colwell Professor of Christian Ethics at Princeton Theological Seminary, this volume is the result of a collaborative effort by former students and colleagues of Professor West, each of whom explores the meaning and significance of Christian ethics in an era of profound global structural transformation. Identifying a number of important issues as posing challenges for Christian ethics, the authors explore a wide range of topics: epistemological questions concerning Christian truth; Christianity and the eclipse of authority and morality in secular society; the ecological crisis; gender and social justice; and the peaceful coexistence of different religious, cultural, and political communities and traditions.

"This survey explores the diverse Muslim approaches to British society and identifies the evolving approaches to other faiths found within the churches. Securely underpinned with Christian theology, it examines the many areas in which Christians and Muslims living within secular societies share common concerns and identifies where religion ends and culture begins. Most significantly, it explores how and why Christian-Muslim relationships can and, urgently, must be improved."--BOOK JACKET.Title Summary field provided by Blackwell North America, Inc. One of a number of "9/11" volumes that appeared last year, Rollin Armour's book has been nearly a decade in the making. He takes the World Trade Center bombing in 1993 and its final destruction in 2001 as historical "bookends" for the material covered. His stated goal is to contribute to better mutual under standing between the West and the Islamic world.
