From the New York Times bestselling author of Return of the King comes the story of LeBron James's incredible transformation from basketball star to sports and business mogul. With eight straight trips to the NBA Finals, LeBron James has proven himself one of the greatest basketball players of all time. And like Magic Johnson and Michael Jordan before him, LeBron has also become a global brand and businessman who has altered the way professional athletes think about their value, maximize their leverage, and use their voice. LeBron, Inc. tells the story of James's journey down the path to becoming a billionaire sports icon - his successes, his failures, and the lessons both have taught him along the way. With plenty of newsmaking tidbits about his rollercoaster last season in Cleveland and high-profile move to the Lakers, LeBron, Inc. shows how James has changed the way most elite athletes manage their careers, and how he launched a movement among his peers that may last decades beyond his playing days.

The DREAM TEAM was a bunch of kids from Akron, Ohio-LeBron James and his best friends-who first met on a youth basketball team of the same name when they were ten and eleven years old. United by their love of the game and their yearning for companionship, they quickly forged a bond which would carry them through thick and thin (a lot of thin) and, at last, to the brink of a national championship. They were a motley group who faced challenges all too typical of inner-city America. LeBron grew up without a father and had moved with his mother more than a dozen times by the age of 10. Willie McGee, the quiet one, had left both his parents behind in Chicago to be raised by his older brother in Akron. Dru Joyce was outspoken, and his dad, who was ever-present, would end up coaching all five of the boys in high school. Sian Cotton, who also played football, was the happy-go-lucky enforcer, while Romeo Travis was unhappy, bitter, even surly, until he finally opened himself up to the bond his team mates offered. In the summer after seventh grade, the DREAM TEAM tasted glory when they qualified for a national championship tournament in Memphis. But they lost their focus, and had to go home early. They promised each other they would stay together and do whatever it took to win a national title. They had no idea how hard it would be to pursue that promise. In the years that followed, they would endure jealousy, hostility, exploitation, resentment from the black community (because they went to a "white" high school), and the consequence of their own over-confidence. Not least, they would all have to wrestle with LeBron's outsize success, which brought too much attention and even a whiff of scandal their way. But together these five boys became men as they sought a national championship.

This volume of essays examines the ways in which sports have become a means for the communication of social identity in the United States. The essays included here explore the question, How is identity engaged in the performance and spectatorship of sports? Defining sports as the whole range of mediated professional sports, and considering actual participation in sports, the chapters herein address a varied range of ways in which sports as a cultural entity becomes a site for the creation and management of symbolic components of identity. Originating in the New Agendas in Communication symposium sponsored by the University of Texas College of Communication, this volume provides contemporary explorations of sports and identity, highlighting the perspectives of up-and-coming scholars and researchers. It has much to offer readers in communication, sociology of sport, human kinetics, and related areas.

Revision 24 of Handling Federal Discovery addresses the seismic shift in federal discovery caused by the once-in-a-generation COVID-19 pandemic. Courts and practitioners alike have had to quickly adopt new technologies, and adapt to shifting circumstances as technology continues to change discovery practices. Some would argue these changes were long overdue. For example, this Revision addresses the new paradigm in remote depositions which, once a rare occurrence, has now become part of what many courts call “the new norm.” See Task 61. Revision 24 also again adds nearly 100 new (and recently decided) cases, replacing older cases that no longer reflect modern federal discovery practice, and further highlights the impact of the pandemic on different aspects of federal discovery. Practitioners can continue to find a dedicated focus on evolving jurisprudence as well as an updated practical guide on how to anticipate and successfully navigate federal discovery in the post-pandemic world. Some key developments covered include: PLANNING DISCOVERY Determine Discovery Goals (Task 1) PRELIMINARY INVESTIGATION Interview Nonparties (Task 9) Pursue Public Sources of Information (Task 10) PRIVILEGE & WORK PRODUCT Asserting Privileges (Tasks 12-14) DISCLOSURES Attend FRCP 16 Scheduling Conference (Task 25) INTERROGATORIES Propound Interrogatories (Task 30) REQUESTS FOR PRODUCTION Propound & Respond to Requests to Produce (Task 36-37) Produce and Inspect Documents and Things (Task 38) NON-PARTY DISCOVERY Challenge & Enforce Subpoenas (Task 41-42) PHYSICAL AND MENTAL EXAMINATIONS • Request & Oppose Examination (Task 47-48) REQUEST FOR ADMISSIONS Respond to RFAs (Task 53) DEPOSITIONS Take Remote Depositions (Task 61) EXPERTS Determine Whether to Retain Experts (Task 70) COMPEL, RESIST, & AMEND DISCOVERY Meet and Confer (Task 80) Move to Compel Depositions (Task 82) Request Additional Discovery in Response to MSJ (Task 96A) Oppose Request for Additional Discovery for MSJ Response (Task 96B) Stipulated Protective Order (Form 32) AND MORE!

This groundbreaking book provides the first detailed account of the materials and techniques of perhaps the most radical—and until now, least studied—major American Abstract Expressionist. Among the most radical of the great American Abstract Expressionist painters, Clyfford Still has also long been among the least studied. Still severed ties with the commercial art world in the early 1950s, and his estate at the time of his death in 1980 comprised some 3,125 artworks—including more than 800 paintings—that were all but unknown to the art world. Susan F. Lake and Barbara A. Ramsay were granted access to this collection by the estate and by the Clyfford Still Museum in Denver, which houses this immense corpus today. This volume, based on the authors’ materials research and enriched by their unprecedented access to Still’s artworks, paints, correspondence, studio records, and personal library, provides the first detailed account of his materials, working methods, and techniques. Initial chapters provide an engaging and erudite overview of the artist's life. Subsequent chapters trace the development of his visionary style, offer in-depth materials analysis of selected works from each decade of his career, and suggest new approaches to the care and conservation of his paintings. There is also a series of technical appendices as well as a full bibliography.
